Are there any safety or security concerns?

We have security 24 hours a day and 7 days a week on the property to watch over the estate as well as the school we have on site. We are entirely embedded in the community and all of our employees live locally in Loma Bonita, just across the street from the property. We are happy to say that we have not had any security or theft issues. We do have a safe on site in the master bedroom if you would prefer to lock something up. Please keep in mind that Playa Loma Bonita is located in a beautiful, rural, jungle environment and that you may on occasion encounter other small creatures besides yourselves.  It is very rare, but if you have any concerns about wildlife while on the property, Jesus will be available to help you.

What are the meal options?

Comercial Mexicana in Zihuatanejo is like a Costco and is probably the best place to stock up on food and beverages for your stay. We suggest stopping there on your way from the airport to Playa Loma Bonita. Otherwise there are plenty of markets in Petatlan. But for our wine drinking guests, it can be somewhat difficult to get wine there. Tequila, not a problem!

We have a cook and a chef who are happy to prepare any meals you prefer. Thomasa, our cook, charges $5 per person for breakfast including fresh juice and $9 per person for lunch and dinner non-inclusive of drinks. She is happy to prepare any or all meals for you. She also does the dishes. We also have an excellent chef, Carmen, who is Cordon Bleu trained and charges $12-15 per person for dinner.

There are also a couple restaurants just down the beach that are delicious, as well as a local pizzeria.

How do we get to the property from the airport?

Gustavo is happy to transport guests in a Suburban from the airport. A rental car is not necessary but if you care to venture out during your stay, it may be nice to have your own car. Past guests have found good deals on Hotwire.com. Please be aware that if you rent a car, typically, as is true in other foreign countries, an auto insurance surcharge will be added to your bill. If you forget something, our staff is happy to go into town to get it for you, for the cost of the item plus a nominal tip.

How far is the closest medical facility?

There is an excellent, small medical facility within 10 minutes of the property.

When should I book activities?

Activities at Playa Loma Bonita include horseback riding, surfing lessons, massages, fishing, yoga, and cooking classes. All of our offered activities can be booked within 24 hours so please do not worry about booking your activities ahead of time. Karina or Jesus would be happy to help you with this upon your arrival.

Do we need to bring beach towels, toys, etc?

For your use, we have plenty of beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, boogie boards, and children’s sand toys.

How many units are for rent on the property?

We have 2 villas on the property and 3 bungalows. The villas sleep 6 comfortably and the bungalows sleep 2-3. The villas have a full kitchen, living room, family room, master bedroom with a king bed and bath, and guest bed room with 2 beds and a bathroom. Each villa also has an infinity pool and lounge chairs. The bungalows have either 1 king bed or 1 queen and 1 twin bed (depending on your preference), as well as a bathroom, and patio.

Do the units have Air Conditioning?

The bungalows all have air conditioning, as do both bedrooms in the main villa, and the master suite in the 2nd villa. All the indoor/outdoor spaces in both villas have high-speed fans and large sliding doors. Most of our guests love the fans and never feel the need for the air conditioning. The property gets a nice breeze and all the doors and windows open to allow the breeze in. Of course you are welcome to use the air conditioning if it makes you more comfortable. But because of the expensive energy costs in Mexico, we do charge a fee of $25/day for the use of air conditioning. This fee covers all the guest units in your party.
